Samia Khan introduced us to Kapil Sharma who is a trained singer. He is an HR person by profession and runs a placement agency through his office at Darshan Lal Chowk. He has been coming for only a little while but has already connected wonderfully with the children. Though he claims he has no patience with his own kids while training them in singing, Kapil is admirably persistent with our lot who are (ahem) let’s just say not very melodious.
See what I mean?
Kapil Sharma comes twice a week with his harmonium and will hopefully, eventually bring some tune and rhythm in our group singing! He says that when the children learn the concept of rhythm, they will also learn better during their study time. Our fingers are crossed for as long as needed!
The kids are learning beautiful Hindi songs currently- Hum ko Mann ki Shakti Dena and Hum Honge Kamayab and watching them meekly murmur the words of the songs on Thursday, I wished for a moment they were that quiet at other times!
In other news, we are turning one year old on January 03, 2012! We cannot believe we are arriving at that major milestone; sometimes it feels like only yesterday that we sat down with the kids outside McDonald’s at Astley Hall. At others, it feels like we have known these kids since forever!
So for our first birthday, we are planning to train with the kids to hold song-dance performances. Watch this space for more updates!
