What does Aasraa strive for? The happiness and excitement that Laira holds on her face in her school uniform. Her house located in one of the city’s crowded slums does not provide a learning atmosphere to study. Her parents are not educated enough to help with her homework. Aasraa mainstreamed her into Sneha Doon Academy last year but that wasn’t enough. What made a real difference was our after school program “Wings of Doon”… She got space to study, an environment to learn and dedicated teachers who helped her understand concepts better. Once a slum child with no hopes for a bright future, Laira is beaming with confidence now… and it gives us immense joy and pride to see this adorably infectious smile on her face!
