Working with street children comes with the statutory warning of LICE! Lots of it! So a few weeks into the Street Smart program, my nice-smelling strawberry shampoo was replaced by Medicare and two lice-combs stand proudly moved in with my hair brush in its stand. Such is life!

So on Saturday, the kids decided they have had enough of me scratching my head like a lunatic and took matters in their own fingers. So Meena, Sharmina and Pooja sat around me on three sides and pulled and pushed my head in mind-boggling directions picking out the little buggers out of my head (I have been told I swear too much in my posts so this is my conscious effort towards changing that!). I am sure there were more than three pairs of hands pulling apart strands of my hair at some time but I really could not tell, as the pictures below will relate:

So I am thinking of declaring Saturday as the official “Lice Removal Day” at Street Smart! How is that for promoting cleanliness and hygiene!
