The other day, towards the end of the class Shaila walked into Gandhi Park as we were folding the mats and gathering the crayons strewn around. With lunch happening towards the end of the class now, we can wield our power and have the kids clean up after each class, with our standard line “This has to happen before we go for lunch….”! Works like magic even though it gets us the most withering glares from the kids!On that particular day, the kids seemed unusually obedient and Shaila looked at me as she said “Do you want them to go to the food thela in a line?” Together, as if on cue we burst out laughing at the idea but then decided to give it a shot. And it almost worked! The kids filed into a queue though there was obviously the pushing and shoving and though it was the most imperfect line ever formed, we were beaming! It almost worked! It almost worked! So we followed the routine yesterday as well and it almost worked again! Will be uploading pictures of the kids marching down to lunch when I can click a decent snap!Yesterday, we also had our wonderful teacher Seema sit with the kids and recite poems with them and have them shout out the days in the week in turn, much to the amusement of the people sitting around us in the park.
Today, we intend to return to paints (we have been using crayons all this time). We are also racing against time to print out greeting cards using our kids’ arts so watch this space for the same and be prepared to place your orders! These will be blank greeting cards that can be used now, for Holi or later for any other occasion, including a “just thinking about you” note!
This is soo lovely! 🙂 Small joys that only children can give!
