FIRST STEPS INTO EDUCATION
Community Based Learning (CBL) Centres, also known as Street Smart Centres, are established near slums and catchment areas where children in need are easily identified. Some centres are set up in direct response to the needs of a particular community, while others operate in collaboration with nearby government primary schools, serving as feeder centres to support admissions and transitions into formal schooling. The program is aligned with Non-Residential Special Training (NRST) Centres under Uttarakhand’s Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), with the goal of preparing children for mainstream school enrollment. Structured classroom environments help children adapt to a school-like routine, easing their integration into the formal education system.

TECH-ENABLED FOUNDATIONAL EDUCATION
At CBL centres, children receive age-appropriate foundational education along with psychosocial support, ensuring a nurturing and holistic learning experience. All centres are equipped with Smart TVs to facilitate Computer-Aided Learning through an e-learning software called Smart School. Based on the NCERT curriculum, it is designed for pre-primary education and integrates videos, stories, interactive games, worksheets etc to engage young learners. These centres closely simulate traditional Anganwadis and the Balvatika model introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
